You can have the best product in the world but if know one knows about it you will not make any sales. And dont think that because you used all the proper SEO techniques the search engines will send traffic exploding through your doors it wont happen.
There are over two billion websites in existence today. That represents an unbelievable amount of competition. In order to be successful youve got to promote you website and the products you sell.
There are many ways to promote your product. In this article Ill cover a free and oftenoverlooked technique. And no its not writing articles it is through the use of forums. I post to forums every day and I get a substantial amount of traffic from this technique. Following are a few tips on how to profit using forums.
1. Search for and register with several forums that are related to your particular niche.
2. After registering with a forum develop a signature file. A signature file is two or three lines of text that describe the website or product that you are recommending. Mention one or two of the most significant benefits and add a link. Do not use your name in a signature file just a link to your site or product.
3. Browse among the many posts that people have entered. A post is a question that someone is asking or an answer to a previously asked question.
4. When you find a post that you are knowledgeable about click on the item. You will be taken to the page that contains that post usually a question along with all of the answers that people have provided. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your own response. Most forums provide a box that you can check to include your signature file along with your post make sure that this box is checked.
5. Do not blatantly pitch your own product in your posts. Be subtle. After you have posted a number of responses people will begin to see you as an expert in the field.
6. Post every day. I try to post at least seven or eight entries each day. This strategy has worked well for me.
7. Make sure to post with every forum that you are registered with.
8. If the forum has a number of different categories try to post replies questions or comments in a variety of categories. This increases the number of people that will see your posts and more importantly your signature files.
9. Some forums have hundreds of pages of postings. Enter your posts at different times of the day to spread your signature file around to the largest possible audience.
10. If you are featuring a new product or one that in the news change your signature file to include this hot item.

Your Web Site Logo At The Top Of The Web Page
We have all heard of alt and title tags when it comes to Web site coding but how many of us are using them to our advantage? Any search engine optimization guru will tell you that they are the perfect place to put your Web sites keywords. Others will tell you they are there to help disabled folks understand what they are. What is all the fuss about them?
Alt tags are usually used with images on the Web to describe what they are about. Title tags are just like alt tags except they are for links not images. Now that we have the fundamentals down we can do more into why they are useful and why you might not be using them in the best way possible.
True they are suppose to be there to help disabled folks understand what that is a picture of or where that link really goes. As I mentioned before though they are a gold mine when it comes to search engine optimization. Use them as a chance to put in a few more keywords into your Web site text. This will help you out with the search engines out there as long as you do it correctly.
I don’t believe you should stuff each one with too many keywords though. Remember that you must keep the title or the alt tags relevant to what they are describing. So how do you find the correct balance? That much is still up to personal opinion for the most part. Here is an example of how I would handle a situation though.
Say you have your Web site logo at the top of the Web page. Instead of just putting “Logo” in as the alt text for the image try putting “MyWebsite.com Your Home for Stuff I Like! This way you get a few more keywords into there that you might not get a place to mention anywhere else. To search engine spiders text is text and they can’t really tell the difference.
So look over your own Web site and decide if you could use a little sprucing up when it comes to alt and title tags. Just remember to do so responsibly.
